Proofreading / Editing / MTPE

Professional proofreading and editing ensure that game translations feel polished, consistent, and natural — not just linguistically correct.
At GATE, we specialize in reviewing video game translations and game-related content, focusing on player-facing quality, terminology consistency, and immersion across all supported languages.

Polishing Game Text for Accuracy and Consistency

Even professionally translated game content can contain minor grammar, spelling, or wording issues. These are natural human errors that can occur during any translation or content creation process — especially in large or text-heavy projects.

Our proofreading and editing service focuses on carefully reviewing existing game-related text to identify and correct grammatical mistakes, spelling errors, inconsistent terminology, and unclear phrasing. By rechecking translations with a fresh perspective, we help improve readability and linguistic accuracy while keeping the original intent intact.

Whether reviewing translations created by GATE or working with existing content provided by the client, this step helps ensure that game text feels clean, consistent, and polished before release — supporting immersion without altering creative or localization decisions unless requested.

Our Proofreading & Editing Services

GATE Translations

When proofreading translations created by GATE, our team already understands the game, its terminology, and its narrative structure.
This allows us to focus on refinement rather than interpretation, ensuring a high level of consistency across UI text, dialogue, descriptions, and related content.

Because translation and proofreading are handled within the same workflow, terminology decisions, stylistic choices, and character voices can be reviewed and adjusted efficiently without introducing inconsistencies.

Existing Translations & MTPE

We also offer proofreading and editing for existing translations provided by clients or third parties.
In these cases, we review the text carefully for grammar, spelling, terminology consistency, tone, and overall readability while respecting the original intent of the source material.

Since the translation was not created in-house, additional time may be required to fully understand the context, game systems, and naming conventions. Additionally, MTPE is slightly more expensive, as machine-translated text often requires more in-depth checks. Nevertheless, our focus remains on improving clarity, consistency, and player immersion without unnecessary rewrites.

Currently available languages are Japanese, English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian.
More languages like Korean, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) may be available on request.

What We Review During Proofreading & Editing

Our proofreading and editing process focuses on how text is experienced by players, not just on linguistic correctness. This includes reviewing grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as checking terminology consistency across menus, dialogue, and repeated UI elements.

We also pay close attention to tone, character voice, and cultural appropriateness to ensure that the text feels natural and aligned with the game’s style and target audience.
